Second Project for Flowersoft Blog Hop!

Ta da....here's my second project for the Blog Hop this month!  I decided to try a card.  I'm not really a card person.  I find cards the most difficult to make.  I don't know why.  I'm sure they are quite simple for most of you, but I just don't have the "knack" for them.  I have trouble coming up with designs for cards.  Anyway, I do like the way this one turned out.

I used one of the shoe stamps from the Fabulous Shoes - Collection 1 set.  You can find others sets from the collection on the Flowersoft website.

I then glued some tiny lace trim to shoe.  I used Glossy Accents to glue it, and I ruffled it as I went along.  It took about an hour or so to do, but I think it looks great!  I also added some bling and flat back pearls from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.  I colored the shoe using my Distress Markers.

I hope you like this card....would love to hear your comments!  And maybe some tips on making cards, too. I would love to hear how you decide to design a card.  Do you use something like Card Maps (similar to Page Maps for layouts)?

Be sure to collect the "secret" words from each of us to win a fabulous prize from Flowersoft!  My secret word is:

April Blog Hop!

Yep!  It's Blog Hop time again!  My first project for the hop is a shadow box.

I began with a dollar store wooden shadow box.  There was a glass front on it, but I didn't use that.  I painted an undercoat of yellow, put a layer of crackle on, then painted it all over in white.  It gives it that shabby chic look.  I stamped the cottage.  It was a stamp I had purchased from a friend.  I colored it with my distress markers.  I then put on some Flowersoft (Meadow, and Autumn) so accentuate the flowers and bushes around the cottage.

I then used stamps by Mabel Lucie Attwell - Garden Accessories.  They are really cute.  I put some Glossy Accents on the watering can and garden basket to stiffen them up a bit.  I cut them out along with some flowers from the stamp collection.  I pop-dotted the basket and can to give them a bit of dimension.

I used some Prima flowers from my stash and added some bling from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

These cute tiny butterflies are from the Garden Accessories stamp set also.  I added some Copper Stickles to give them a little sparkle.  I also used a little piece of vine ribbon that I had in my stash.

I pop-dotted the cute smiling flower to add dimension.  And I made a banner strip by using some of my letter stamps, and inking the edges.  I think it adds a kind of warmth to the project.

Finally, the beaded trim on the bottom is two types.  The hanging trim I bought from a local dollar store.  The strip of yellow beading is from Angela Holt!  I just loved how this turned out!  Leave me some love and let me know what you think!

April Sponsor!

A wonderful welcome goes out to our new sponsor for April....FlowerSoft/Katy Sue Designs!  These products are amazing, and have so many awesome ways to use their products.  So join us this month as I and my DT sistas from Angela Holt Designs show you many of the ways we use their products....

My first project is an ATC (Artist Trading Card)!  I used Card Creators - Lunar Landscapes to make the card.  I used Glossy Accents to accentuate the vines around the edge.  I put a bit of the Polar White Flower Soft on the moon.  And I used one of the sentiments from the Die Cut Silhouette Stickers - Wish Sentiments.  I had a cut leftover sparkly heart from another project that I thought looked great on this card.  Around the edge of the card I added some of Angela Holt's Pearlized Bead Trim.

I didn't have an ATC stamp for the back, so I went online and used a free digital one.  Just printed it off, and glued it on the back.  I used a couple of my Glimmer Mists to color the back.

Last Day of March Hop!

So this is the last day of our March Blog Hop.  Unfortunately I was unable to finish my second project.  I tried but I'm having a lot of trouble with pain in my hands right now that is preventing me from doing a lot of things.  Hopefully I will be able to do more projects soon.  But still....leave a comment on my first project (below in Mar 24th post).  I will pick a winner of the paper pad by Monday.  So don't forget...you need to leave a comment on that project post, be a member of my blog, and post a comment on Facebook.  Good luck!

Now for my project....I made a crocheted Easter Egg cover!  I love to crochet, so I saw a pattern online for this, and decided to do my "take" on it.

I used orange flat back pearls, and a button from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.  The flowers, ribbon, and butterfly were from my stash.

Miriam's pearls were the perfect color for this project!  I used fabric glue to attach them to the crochet cotton.

This gorgeous butterfly I got from a friend.  I believe she picked it up from the dollar store.  I just love it!

Stickles Storage!

I finally made another project!  LOL!  This time I decided to make a container to hold all my Stickles.  Well at least a container to hold the ones I have now.  I might need to make another one if I buy more.  I used a collection of paper I've been hoarding (Echo Park - Be Mine).  The flowers are Prima.  The gorgeous bling on the top were buttons from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.  They are buttons, but I cut the backs off.  The button on the front is also from Miriam's (I also cut the back off that one).  I used some ribbon from my stash, and a tassle that was a graduation keychain.  I just took the keyring and year charm off.  I think this box definitely needed a tassle.

Are the blingy buttons just gorgeous?  I think they were perfect for my box!  The Echo Park Be Mine collection was perfect, too, for my Stickles container because my scrap room is all pink/black/white and Paris theme!

And here's what the inside looks like.  I just bought PVC couplings from Home Depot (.45 cents each).  They were a perfect fit for my Stickles!  Now I can store them upside down, and don't have to shake them when I need to use them.  I saw this PVC idea on Youtube.  I just put my own twist on it!  As I said before, this will fit my Stickles for now.  But if I buy more, I will need to create another box!  By the way....the magnets I used on this box to keep it close are also from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.  And man, are they ever strong!  I definitely need to buy some more of them.  So if you are in need of some magnets for boxes or mini albums...order them from Miriam!

Life A Bloom Album!

I have been working hard on on a beautiful album from a talented digi artist Tsunami Rose!  I have never done a digi album before.  I made this one to hold all my favorite quotes to put on layouts.

I used Prima flowers and some Maya Road rose trim to decorate the front of my album.  The butterfly is from the dollar store, and the gem flower is from Walmart.

I love the way all the flowers look!  It's very befitting of the title of the album.

I used some charms I had in my gigantic charm box!  A cute little birdhouse, a pretty gold rose, and the word "Inspire" because that is what the book is all about.  All the quotes I will keep in this book I will use to inspire my layouts!

I love the sweet little pockets that were included in this kit.  I used some of the journal paper that was included in the kit to make the one on the right.  I made this in a junk journal sort of style.  I used scraps of paper from my scrap box to make extra pages.  And I used several different tags I had in my tag drawer.

There were lots of cute sentiment spots also included in the digi kit.  I added some different paperclips to the pages, too, to hold other quotes I gather as see them.

I didn't seal the ticket and the Bingo card that was included in the kit because I can use the space inside to write more quotes.

I also used a few different bull clips for clipping my favorite quotes.

I loved making this album!  I used some lace trim from my stash to add to some of the pages.
